D.E.S.E MISSION

Dance Expo Special Events is a program that exhibits diverse forms of dance in an
entertaining and unique way. D.E.S.E is a program that demonstrates how dance is
a contribution to and is inspired by such art forms as – but not limited to -- fashion,
music and culture. In addition, it hosts annual competitions for a variety of
dancers and dance troupes to come together and perform with excellence and
integrity.

Our goal is to break and hopefully destroy the negative ideas associated with
dance. We desire to encourage & direct young, as well as mature dance
generations into dancing with uniqueness & creativity, without degradation.

DANCE EXPO SPECIAL EVENTS BEGINNINGS

In the spring of 1998 at the State University of New York at New Paltz, a young
woman was given the opportunity to manage the student-run dance troupe called
Culture Shock. With this new challenge, the young dancer, with the guidance of
her fellow dancers, friends and family created the first major dance competition
on campus called Dance Expo Exhibition & Competition. It focused on dance,
fashion, art and the fusion of it all. Throughout the years, it ranked to be the
number 1 supported college campus event, bringing in various colleges and
dancers of all kinds.

In 2003, the umbrella to the competition emerged as Dance Expo Special Events.
The official performing arts program. We will endeavor to hold on to the original
purpose of the competition and will take it to a bigger and brighter future.
